Toni Toolz has produced music under many pseudonyms for over 20 years. If you have ever been near a pair of decks for any length of time, then the chances are that you've heard a track involving Toni Toolz, in one way or another. Toolz holds production credits on a wide range of material with artists from Pharrell Williams to David Pryla, Kelis to Adam Renz, and Moby to General Levy.
Toni Toolz has worked on countless tracks and projects for over two decades under various names. In the early days, he spent many years developing his skills, pushing out white labels, experimenting in many genres and working on projects with fellow music makers. This eventually led to remix jobs for superstar artists like Destiny's Child, Pharrell Williams, Beenie Man, Kelis and Moby on labels like Edel, Mute, Columbia, EMI, and Virgin under various different guises. Production credits include gold and platinum selling singles and albums like the platinum selling "Trick Me" by Kelis, "Crier La Vie" by Moby, and Mylene Farmer who achieved number one success in the French national charts, N*E*R*D's "She Wants To Move", and inclusion on the gold selling "Fly Or Die" album in Japan.
Fast-forward to 2012, and Toni Toolz launched Adobo Studios. His more recent productions have been supported by the likes of MJ Cole, Brandon Block, Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Kissy Sell Out, DJ EZ and that's just scratching the surface. Over the past few years Adobo Studios has naturally grown into a creative hub of artists, writers, singers, DJs and musicians, all of which Toolz is currently working with on various projects.
Toolz also re-launched the label Big Mix Up Records at the end of 2015, through Believe Digital with a dedicated team behind it, a seriously eclectic release schedule, regular chart entries, press features and global airplay, including domestic stations such as BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra, Capital and Kiss.
At Adobo Studios right now, Toni Toolz is continuing his work on over a dozen diverse projects with as many people, confirming as he likes to say:
"No two days are the same in the lab".
Bassball Records is the brainchild of Brian ‘Keys’ Tharme aka BKT.
It is the vehicle (mainly) for the release of Brian’s copious unreleased catalogue. The label will, of course, be looking to champion like-minded artists in the future.
Coming from a background of playing in Jazz, Funk and Latin bands in the 80’s, it was his partnership with Gavin ‘DJ Face’ Mills in forming the seminal Catch Records label in the 90’s that led Brian into an influential path into house music.
With several releases on the label, notably ‘Just get’s better’ by TJR (a collaboration with Tuff Jam), the team gained notable acclaim within the fledgling UK garage scene and beyond. This led Brian to lend his talents as the favoured keyboard player for Tuff Jam, Booker T, Bobby and Steve and many more.
After an absence of 10 years, Brian returned to the scene with partner Wally Walton to form SoulFunktion Records. Working with such notaries as Inaya Day, Kenny Thomas and Chad Saiman led to a string of releases and remixes to regain recognition.
Bassball Records is basically designed to be a Catch records for the 21st century.
It’s all things deep and soulful UK garage.
The sound will reflect all that Catch was about… musical, melodic and with bumpy beats!
